Outpatients

When you’re poorly, you sometimes need to go to hospital. But that doesn’t always mean you have to stay the night.

‘Out-patients’ is a special part of the hospital for children who only need to see a doctor or nurse for a short time. That doctor or nurse will come up with a plan to help you get better, and want to check you’re following it from time to time.

That might mean taking a special test, like an x-ray which can see through to your bones. It might mean checking you are taking your medicine properly. The doctor or nurse might even check your height or wee!

‘Out-patients’ is a friendly place where you can talk to your doctor and nurse. Eventually, you’ll get better and not have to come again.
