Dermatology

Skin problems are very common. You might feel embarrassed, but you shouldn’t – there are lots of things which can affect your skin, and lots of options to fix them.

You’ll attend a special clinic at the hospital, in the children’s outpatients department – you won’t need to stay in hospital. The doctor will just want to chat with your about your skin, to try and find out what’s wrong.

It might take a couple of tries before a solution is found for your skin. There are lots of types of eczema, acne, psoriasis and other conditions which need to be ruled out. You’ll also be asked which creams and treatments you like best.

The doctor will come up with a plan for your skin, and it’ll be your job – with the help of your family – to follow it. Hopefully, your skin will soon be much better. If not, the doctor will always be there to try something else.
